Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) is a state owned corporation for passenger transport providing bus services both within state of Gujarat, India and neighboring states. It has workforce of 50,000.
GSRTC was established on 1 May 1960 with formation of Gujarat state. From a beginning of 7 divisions, 76 depots and 7 divisional workshops ; it has gone to 16 divisions, 125 depots, 226 bus stations, 1,554 pick up stands and 8,000+ buses.GSRTC is planning to invest in water transport as well. Boat jetties will be constructed with convention centers on first floor. The corporation is driven by latest technology like 5-gear engine, cushion seat for driver, printed tickets, indicator lights, break lights etc.
This remarkable growth is an outcome of unflagging effort of more than 39,795 workforce, dynamic management and sustained support from the state govt. It has built up formidable technical facilities.

Facilities
GSRTC purchased 1500+ new buses including air conditioned, sleeper coaches Volvo buses in 2009 .
GSRTC provides online and mobile phone ticket booking facility.It also provides wi-fi internet service in Volvo buses for free.
Technical
It has built up many technical facilities. Including:
Three level maintenance and repair facility – 126 depot workshops, 16 divisional workshops and a central workshop
7 Tyre retreading plant
E-Governance: / Existing Systems:
First in country to introduce GPS / PIS based Bus Tracking & Passenger Information System for Monitoring in GSRTC buses.
14000 Electronic Ticketing Machines have been introduced in all 7467 Schedules.
GSRTC have launched its own website www.gsrtc.in. Online time table for express services has been uploaded on website and also through SMS Internet based online passenger reservation system for passengers as well as E-Ticketing for Public.

Implemented Video Conference System between Central Office and All 16 Division Office.
Bus body building plant (1,000 bus bodies/year).

GSRTC Awarded by National award for fuel economy 2006-2007 by India State Road Transport Undertaking and Ministry of Road Transport & Highway, Government of India.
